Today Jerry and Kathy took us on a field trip to Bodega Bay, the location for the filming of ‘The Birds”.
We stopped along the way and picked up some oysters, beer, wine and other stuff for our BBQ. Lots of traffic along the way but to my surprise, Bodega Bay was pretty much empty!
Our first stop was the Tides Restaurant which was a focal point in the movie.
Then we continued on to Bodega Head and hiked down to the beach. A bit windy but really nice.
All the boats were in due to the wind and high waves so again the place was very quiet.
We setup our BBQ at the marina and spent a couple hours eating crackers, summer sausage, shrimp and oysters along with a couple bottles of wine and beer. Needless to say, we had a great time.
Directly across the parking lot was a giant tree FULL of blue and white heron nests. All during our stay we watched the giant birds fly in and out.
It was a day to remember.
Thanks Jerry !!
Here are a few additional pics of our adventure.
Wonderful pictures. It makes me want to go there. I’ll have to watch the movie again.
We watched the movie the day before we headed out to CA at the urging of Jerry 🙂
What a beautiful area.Your picnic sounds to die for! Thanks for sharing your trip with all of us!
The food was awesome and couldn’t have wished for a better view 🙂
