Saturday we headed up to the Colorado National Monument. The west entrance and Visitors Center is just up the canyon from Fruita about 5 miles west of Grand Junction. We know better than to venture out on a weekend but we did it anyway.
There were several police cars near the park entrance stopping traffic for a bike race being held in the park. Bikes EVERYWHERE!
Our first stop inside the park was ‘Balanced Rock’ just off the side of the road.
Not long after entering we came to ‘Independence Rock’.
The bikes thinned out once we were past the visitors center making driving much easier.
The road through the park is about 23 miles running from Fruita back to Grand Junction. We did a few hikes and hit most of the overlooks.
It was a nice drive (other than the bike race) and well worth the few hours we spent visiting. The park road dropped us within a couple miles of camp in Grand Junction.
Where are the peaches ripe in Fruita or are they done. I think Joe and I had the best peaches ever there. Beautiful country you walked through isn’t our world a beautiful place
Should read peaches. Lots of mistakes. I guess the microphone doesn’t understand a utah accent
We didn’t see any peaches 😕. Fall colors starting on the trees.
